Project background
This project represents a continued and growing sustainable energy partnership between Motla and the iconic Sun City Resort, beautifully situated amidst the natural splendor of the Pilanesberg National Park. A robust 1.5 MWp solar PV system, utilizing high-performance Jinko Solar panels mounted on Schletter Group racking structures, forms the backbone of this landmark renewable energy installation. The system is powered by 13 SMA Core 2 inverters, supplied by IBC Solar South Africa, delivering a combined inverter capacity of 1.32 MW to ensure efficient and reliable clean energy generation at scale. As one of South Africa’s most celebrated leisure and hospitality destinations, Sun International’s Sun City Resort continues to lead by example in eco-friendly tourism, demonstrating that world-class hospitality and environmental responsibility can go hand in hand. This installation marks a significant step forward in Sun City’s journey toward a greener, more sustainable future, reducing the resort’s carbon footprint and grid dependence while preserving the natural beauty of the Pilanesberg region for generations to come.
